LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The howling about Scott Satterfield escalated last season after the University of Louisville football team was a surprising, 34-33, loser at Boston College in game five of the 2022 season.
The loss dropped Louisville to 2-3 came after quarterback Malik Cunningham was injured and BC kicked two field goals in the fourth quarter to earn the upset. BC receiver Zay Flowers, a first-round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens, caught five passes for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Satterfield, Cunningham and Flowers will not be part of the narrative this weekend as new Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm leads the Cards into their first Atlantic Coast Conference home game against BC.
Louisville won its ACC opener against Georgia Tech, and the Cards are tied with Duke and Florida State with a 1-0 league record.

The Last Time: BC upset the Cardinals, 34-33, as a 13-point underdog last season, but quarterback Phil Jurkovec and receiver Flowers are no longer with the Eagles.
The Series: The Cards lead 8-7 and have won five of nine since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Records: The Eagles are 1-2, losing to Nothern Illinois and Florida State while beating Holy Cross. The Cards are 3-0 with victories over Georgia Tech, Murray State and Indiana.
Player to Watch BC: Quarterback Thomas Castellanos ran for 95 yards and a touchdown and also threw for 305 yards and a score against Florida State. That was a career-best jump for Castellanos who threw for a combined 339 yards in BC's first two games. In fact, Castellanos, a transfer from Central Florida, was only 13 for 28 with an interception in the loss to Northern Illinois.
Player to Watch Louisville: Cards' quarterback Jack Plummer is coming off his best all-around game this season against Indiana last Saturday in Indianapolis. Plummer threw for 238 yards and a touchdown but also ran for 42 yards on eight carries. Plummer has five touchdowns but four interceptions in three games.
Sideline Storylines:
- Castellanos' 644 yards passing are the third most for any BC quarterback since 1981.
- Castellanos leads BC in rushing with 231 yards.
- Boston College's top running back is Kye Robichaux, who played two seasons for Western Kentucky and ran for 496 yards with the Hilltoppers last season.
- BC added eight players from the transfer portal, including defensive tackle George Rooks (Michigan) and cornerback Alex Washington (Harvard).
- A Louisville victory would move the Cards to 2-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play for only the second time in school history.
- How unusual was it for Louisville to win after going scoreless in the second half last week against IU? The Cards are 32-182-11 in games where they failed to score in the second half.
- The Cards rank seventh in the nation with seven runs of 20 yards or more but are the only FCS program with a pair of 70-yard rushes this season.
- Linebacker T.J. Quinn and safety Devin Neal lead the Cards with 17 tackles.
- Louisvillle's all-time record in ACC games is 38-37.
The Quote: Jeff Brohm about the challenge of trying to go 2-0 in the ACC and defeating BC:
"Based on the last game, (BC) can play football. They're well-coached. They've made corrections over the first couple of weeks and played their best game. So that's a sign of a good football team. Like I said, I think they found their quarterback (Thomas Castellanos), who can run around and make plays. He threw for over three hundred yards and ran for almost 100 yards in the last game against one of the top teams in the country (Florida State). We'll have our hands full."
The Pick: Louisville 34, Boston College 17.
