Community members in the Shawnee neighborhood held a small news conference Wednesday at King Elementary School, speaking out against the announced closure of two schools in the district and making a strong push for the opening of a charter school instead.
According to an agenda for a May 12 board meeting, Christ Temple Christian Life Center is offering to purchase the property of King Elementary School for $1,020,000.
JCPS wrapped up its 2025-2026 school year Friday, and the closure of two elementary schools in the district became real for parents.
