Metro Council denies mask ordinance update - 12.4.25

Louisville Metro Council voted 13-12 on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, to not update the current mask ordinance to include law enforcement is not exempt from wearing masks. (WDRB image)

The update to the city's mask ordinance was aimed at stopping law enforcement, including ICE, from wearing masks to conceal their identities.
At Thursday night's meeting, the council approved the additional funds, which will be invested in public safety, parks and affordable housing.
