LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted murder after police say she intentionally hit her husband with a car in downtown Louisville.

Margie Jones, 50, was charged with attempted murder-domestic violence, two counts of wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid, and disregarding a traffic light.

Officers were called to the area of South 9th Street and West Broadway just after 4 a.m. Sunday, June 14, on a report that someone had been hit by a vehicle, Louisville Metro Police said at the time.

Once on scene, police found a man in a nearby parking lot in the 600 block of Roy Wilkins Avenue. He was taken to UofL Hospital with critical and life-threatening injuries. A spokesperson for LMPD said Thursday said he remains in critical condition.

Police said after the incident that the driver of an unknown vehicle likely hit the man intentionally.

According to an arrest citation, the victim was identified as Jones' husband. A witness at the scene told police Jones was driving the vehicle that hit the victim.

Police said surveillance video showed Jones driving at the victim, attempting to hit him, in the intersection of 8th and Broadway. Additional surveillance footage, police said, showed Jones a short time later trying to hit the victim in the parking lot where he was found by police. Seconds later, police said Jones hit the victim with her vehicle in the parking lot.

After hitting the victim, police said Jones left the scene and disregarded a red light at 7th and Industry Road.

The vehicle Jones was driving was later found parked in the street in front of her home. Police said suspected blood and hair were found on the front of the vehicle.

Jones was arrested Wednesday by LMPD's Homicide Unit and is being held at Metro Corrections in downtown Louisville.

In arraignment court Thursday morning, Jones pleaded not guilty and her bond was set at $100,000 cash. She's scheduled to appear back in court June 26.
