LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Twelve people are facing federal charges in connection to a drug trafficking operation allegedly run by an Indiana prison inmate.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Indiana announced the charges Tuesday, part of a months-long investigation led by the Crossroads of America Homeland Security Task Force.

Investigators said 37-year-old Justin Veal is accused of leading a drug trafficking ring responsible for distributing hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine, cocaine, suboxone and fentanyl — all while incarcerated at the Westville Correctional Facility.

According to the indictment, at Veal's direction, 27-year-old Sade Butler of Indianapolis and 44-year-old Shawnlisa Nevels obtained the drugs from multiple suppliers and distributed them to customers in Anderson, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and other areas across the state.

All three are charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute controlled substances. Butler was charged with two counts.

Nine other people were listed as defendants and are charged with the following:

  •  Adrian Swift, 39, of Indianapolis, charged with two counts of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute controlled substances
  • Bobby Young, 51, of Anderson, charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute controlled substances
  • Dontrell Cole, 24, of Indianapolis, charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute controlled substances
  • Jared Schloerb, 52, of Indianapolis, charge with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute controlled substances
  • Megan Daniels, 49, of Columbus, charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute controlled substances
  • Scott Foor, 45, of Indianapolis, charged with distribution of 50 grams of methamphetamine
  • Daquel Jones, 35, of Indianapolis, charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute controlled substances
  • Dawud Quarles, 33, of Indianapolis, charged with possession with intent to distribute 50 grams of methamphetamine
  • Larry Craig, 54, of Indianapolis, charged with unlawful use of communication facility

Law enforcement also seized the following items during the investigation:

  • 13 firearms, including select-fire weapons with drum magazines
  • 130 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 550 grams of cocaine
  • 241 grams of fentanyl
  • 25 Suboxone Strips
  • 1750 grams of synthetic cannabinoid ("spice")
  • Several thousand counterfeit fentanyl pills
  • Heroin
  • Cash
  • A pill press with drug residue
  • High-value jewelry
  • 15 cell phones
  • 2 vehicles
