LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person died and two others were hurt in a shooting early Tuesday morning near downtown Louisville.

It happened around 12:20 a.m. near the intersection of Seventh Street and Garland Avenue.

"I heard about 10 gunshots," a woman who lives nearby told WDRB News. "The first five were like a real loud boom and then the second five sounded like they came from a small caliber pistol."

The Louisville Metro Police Department said three people were found shot in a courtyard area. One man died at the scene, though his age and name are still unknown. The two other victims were taken to University Hospital and are expected to survive.

"They're good, wonderful people here, but as far as has it got better or worse, it's got the same or worse," one neighbor, who wanted to remain anonymous, said of violence in the area. "It hasn't gotten better."

If you have any information on the shootings that could lead to an arrest, you're asked to call LMPD's anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.
