1 man dead, another in critical condition after crash on New Year's Eve near Pleasure Ridge Park

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A crash near Pleasure Ridge Park on Sunday night left a man dead and another hospitalized in critical condition.

Louisville Metro Police spokesman Aaron Ellis said Monday that officers responded around 5:50 p.m. Sunday to the report of a single-car crash in the 7800 block of St. Andrews Church Road, about 1 mile east of Dixie Highway.

Ellis said the police investigation found a car driving northbound on St. Andrews church Road "at a high rate of speed" lost control and hit the corner of a building.

First responders transported both the driver and a passenger to UofL Hospital. The passenger died from his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital, and the driver remains there in critical condition, Ellis said.

LMPD'S Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
