Kentucky is remembering its fallen firefighters.

The annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial was held in Frankfort Wednesday morning, Lex18 News reported. The memorial is held to honor those who lost their lives this year.

Twenty-two names were added to the memorial, 10 of them were those who died in the line of duty.

Firefighters, families, and friends were all invited to take part in the ceremony, including a man who fought fires alongside his father.

"Never thought that I'd have to do this, but it's an amazing feeling to be able to memorialize your father in something he loved doing, helping this community," he said.

The service was conducted by the Kentucky Firefighters Association, Kentucky Professional Firefighters Association, Kentucky Association of Fire Chiefs, Frankfort Fire and EMS, the Franklin County Fire Department and the Kentucky Fire Commission.
