LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The weather has impacted some of the 4th of July celebrations in the Louisville area Thursday.
The event at the Waterfront has been delayed an hour because of the storms this afternoon as festivities are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
Meredith Stacey owns a party and balloon company and spent much of the day setting up at Big Four Park.
"We love doing things at Waterfront Park to help celebrate the city," Stacey said. "Our Waterfront Park is beautiful. We were just saying it is probably one of the best, I think, that I have ever been to so we really like to participate."
While they worked on displays, crews were setting up the stage for the "Waterfront’s Most Talented" contest and the thousands of people who are expected to check out the fireworks.
In Jeffersonville, the streets filled for the city’s annual Celebrate Freedom Parade. Folks lined the streets for the grand marshals, bands and all the floats.

"I am here with my son and celebrating this incredible day - the fourth and our nation's freedom," a parade attendee said.
"We really want to celebrate our town and the Fourth of July and we want to share our event with the community on such a great day," Nikki Elder, wo attended the Jeffersonville parade, said. "We're so excited."
Back in Louisville, the day-long Crescent Hill Fourth of July festival brought in thousands of people.
It started four decades ago and remains one of the most popular neighborhood celebrations every year.
"The memories that it's brought to us," Maddie Lobue said. "We spend every single Fourth of July here."
For Tyler Cook and his family, Thursday was their first time here.
"It's great," he said. "Chill scene. Good ice cream. It's a good time."
Where ever you looked, there was no shortage of patriotism – from adults, to kids and even to pets.
"It's a great summer holiday," Cook said. "I like the BBQ, I like the fireworks, and the good vibes of the day."
If you want to catch fireworks Thursday night, both Crescent Hill and downtown Louisville shows begin at 10 p.m.
