LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A motorcyclist died Friday evening in a crash on Interstate 64 near Mellwood Avenue.

Matthew Sanders, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said officers responded on a crash involving a sedan and motorcycle just before 6:45 p.m. Police said the motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and died.

A preliminary investigation indicated the motorcyclist was speeding and weaving between vehicles. Witnesses told police the motorcyclist clipped another vehicle headed the same direction and lost control.

The victim was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 33-year-old Aaron May.

All lanes were blocked as police investigated and the roadway reopened just before 11 p.m.
