LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Baptist Health is getting a record-breaking boost from Kosair for Kids.
Thursday, Kosair announced a $5 million donation to the hospital system. It's the largest philanthropic gift it has ever received.
The money will be used to buy equipment and invest in mother and baby services throughout the hospitals in Kentucky and southern Indiana. In return, Baptist Health Hardin will rename its neonatal intensive care unit in honor of Kosair for Kids.
"It's also a time and a location where community members and friends come together when they need words of encouragement and support when we've got a baby who needs a little bit of additional medical care," said Robert Ramey, president of Baptist Health Hardin. "So, we're grateful that we get to provide that for our youngest patients and for their families as well."
Baptist Health Hardin is the only hospital in central Kentucky to offer pediatric surgery and other medical services.
