LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Bullitt County Jailer has avoided possible jail time and a fine, which was on the line if Martha Knox was found in contempt of court for issuing paper EPOs instead of electronic ones.
But after a two-hour hearing Friday, a judge ruled that she was not in contempt. Knox says she made efforts to start the new system, but ran into technical issues.
The Bullitt County Jail is the only 24-hour facility for after hours EPOs in the county.
"I'm willing to do what I need to do," she said. "My first priority is the safety and security of the jail, and I'm willing to do anything I have to do to help with the courts. So, I'm just glad it's over with, and we can move on and I need to serve the jail and the public."
Several people hugged Knox after the ruling including jail employees. Knox says the jail got money from Fiscal Court to hire an IT person to help fix the electronic EPO computer. It was up and running Thursday.
