LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One of Louisville's oldest doughnut shops caught fire Tuesday, and a man was arrested on scene and charged with arson.
Just after noon, a fire was reported at the Krispy Kreme on Bardstown Road, which is just north of Interstate 264.
Louisville Fire Department officials said the fire was started using an "incendiary device thrown onto the building." It was a plastic bottle, firefighters said, but they haven't said what was in it.
Michael Moore, 40, was arrested shortly after the fire was reported. He's charged with first-degree arson and first-degree wanton endangerment.
Forty firefighters arrived on scene in three minutes and were able to get the fire under control in about 15 minutes, leaving heavy damage to the roof and attic.
"I'm not sure how long the restaurant will be out of commission, but it’ll be some significant damage," Louisville Fire Capt. Tamara Stewart said. "It’ll take some time for them to get back to business."
Bardstown Road was closed for about an hour in that stretch but reopened by about 2 p.m.
Everyone was able to evacuate the building, and Stewart said a few people were checked out for smoke inhalation, but, other than that, no one was seriously hurt.
