NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- A local family-owned business just made a deal that's the first of its kind in Indiana.
Huncilman Sheet Metal Fabrication has merged with Nix Industrial, and an event was held to announce the merger Tuesday at the business on Security Parkway, off Grant Line Road, in New Albany.
According to the state, it's the first time two fifth-generation Indiana companies have combined. Huncilman has been in New Albany for more than 100 years. Nix is headquartered in Poseyville, near Evansville.
"We're always competing against foreign competition, so for us to come together just strengthens us," said Matthew Nix, president and CEO of Nix Companies. "There's a lot of things they do in their process that we are outsourcing, there's things that we do that they were outsourcing, so to be able to combine that really strengthens our business as a whole."
The combined companies make it one of the five largest metal fabricators in the state of Indiana, and the top 40 in the U.S.Ā
All team members in New Albany will keep their jobs.
