Chicken wing competition to kick off 502 Black Business Week in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- 502 Black Business Week is kicking off its annual Juneteenth celebration with some neighborly competition.

The Wingin' It War aims to find the best chicken wings in Louisville. The event takes place at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Chicago's Jerk Tacos outside the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center at 30th and Jefferson streets.

502 Black Business Week will officially begin June 16, a week-long celebration aiming to promote Black-owned businesses.

"With Black businesses, they don't often have a lot of money to put into marketing," Tiandra Robinson, the creator of 502 Black Business Week, said Thursday. "So 502 Black Business Week is a concept to put the spotlight on them so that people know that their businesses exists. Because if people don't know that your business exists, then how can they come out and spend money?"

During the week, owners are encouraged to advertise personalized discounts and deals to further draw in community members for support during June 16-22 and beyond.
