LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- For years, sports fans have asked why they can't simply stream ESPN and have to have a cable or dish package. That's finally changing, but it could cost more than you want to pay.

A new app, simply named ESPN, will launch early this fall and will let you stream all games and content from any ESPN channel.

But, at $29 a month, it's showing as one of the most expensive streaming services. A recent report says while it could be cost effective for a single viewer, families who pay for Netflix, HBO Max, and other services may not be happy with having to pay another $30 a month just for sports.

The average family now spends $69 a month on streaming services, and that's not including their home internet bill. That all makes it the same price as your cable bill 10 years ago!

One money saving option is to bundle the new ESPN with an ad-supported Hulu and Disney+ for $35 a month, or just go down the street to your local sports bar.
