LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A family-owned Kentucky bourbon company with global reach is getting bigger.
Heaven Hill Brands cut the ribbon Monday on its new headquarters on Whittington Parkway in east Louisville. Its former location was in St. Matthews.
The new 48,000-square-foot building will be home to 150 employees working in offices, an employee art gallery and local art installations. There will be a two-story cafe and a tasting bar called Max's Place named in honor of longtime leader Max Shapira.
Construction took a year, but the initial planning for a larger facility began nearly two decades ago, according to co-president Kate Latts.
"We are really glad we waited, because with COVID and work from home and then after COVID really things changed — how people want to work, what draws people to an office — and we really nailed it," Latts said.
Heaven Hill's distillery is located in Bardstown. The company is celebrating 90 years in business.
Founded in Bardstown, Kentucky in 1935, Heaven Hill is family-owned and led. Its portfolio includes Elijah Craig Bourbon, Evan Williams Bourbon, Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond, Lunazul Tequila, Ocho Tequila, and Deep Eddy Vodka.
