LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new indoor skate park is now open for business in Louisville's Portland neighborhood.

Sprak Indoor Skate Park opened on North 27th Street near the McAlpine Locks and the Ohio River. The 13,000 square-foot facility features a custom built street course and a mini ramp to appeal to all ages and all skill levels.

Sprak is the vision of Paul Zitzer, who came up with the name with his skating friends many years ago.

"Every city needs a great indoor skate park," Zitzer said. "I would encourage people to support local skate boarding."

Zitzer skateboarded professionally for 10 years.

Louisville has two other public skating areas: the Dave Armstrong Extreme Park on Franklin Street near Waterfront Park, and  Breslin Park Skate Spot on Payne Street in Irish Hill.

Sprak offers memberships and day passes. To learn more about the skate park, click here.
