LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Land is for sale in downtown Jeffersonville, and the city's mayor is hoping to see a grocery store put in there.
The empty 0.9-acre lot at 214 West Court Avenue, near the Thorntons, is currently owned by the Jeffersonville Redevelopment Board, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore told LBF the city is looking for a small grocery market to occupy half of the space, with a minimum of 40 parking spots.Â
"We've attracted all of these people (to live), but we're missing one element: a nearby grocery," Moore said.
The space will not allow for a chain store, like Kroger or Meijer.Â
As for the price of the land, Moore said the city wouldn't need to make much of a profit for it to benefit Jeffersonville residents.
