LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Black Sports Hall of Fame will relocate from Georgetown to Louisville next year, our partners at Louisville Business First reported this week.

The hall of fame was established in 2008 at the Buffalo Foundation, a nonprofit based in Georgetown that funds educational and agricultural programs for inner-city kids.

In 2026, it will move to Roots 101, an African American museum at 1st and Washington streets in downtown Louisville.

"Louisville has a metropolitan area that can support the Hall of Fame, and it's not so close in proximity to Lexington," Barry Tilford, the son of Bias Tilford, who co-founded the hall of fame, told Business First. "It's not like we are leaving a vacuum in the Lexington area. We still do our Soul of Thoroughbred Racing at the Kentucky Horse Park. But we want to be part of a museum with a fast-growing presence like Roots 101."

Muhammad Ali and former Louisville stars Wade Houston and Lenny Lyles are a few of the hall of fame's inductees.
