LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville-based bank is making a big play in the world of college sports.
Fifth Third Bank has formed a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) program comprised of 26 student athletes from across the country, reported by our partners at Louisville Business First.
The student-athletes apart of Team Fifth Third will be featured in social media videos highlighting their athletic careers, showing what it takes to play Division 1 college basketball and also advertising the bank.
"College basketball fans are some of the most passionate supporters in sports, and Fifth Third shares that same enthusiasm for supporting the student-athletes who represent their schools, hometowns and their families," Carolyn David, Fifth Third's marketing head, said in a news release.
NIL rules changed July 1, 2021 when the NCAA began to allow college student-athletes to profit from their name, image and likeness, and control how their image is used.
