LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — A Louisville-based piping solutions provider officially opened its new multimillion-dollar manufacturing facility in Riverport this week.
ISCO Industries cut the ribbon on the new Transport Court facility Monday morning. Company leaders, including CEO Jimmy Kirchdorfer, joined Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg and other community members for the event.
The $12.75 million will double the company's current space. It is also expected to create 50 new full-time jobs, officials said.
"ISCO Industries is a Louisville-born and grown company that continues to reinvest in its hometown," Greenberg said. "This new facility is another example of a company doubling down on its commitment to Louisville and showcasing it can continue to grow and fill new jobs right here in the city where it all started."
ISCO Industries manufactures and sells large pipes used by a variety of industries ranging from water and sewer pipes to equipment used in mining, oil and gas.
It is estimated that about 20 truckloads of pipe will come in and out of the new facility each day.
ISCO Industries has a deep history in Louisville. Kirchdorfer's father founded the the company in 1962 — originally specialized in underground golf course irrigation — while running his family's hardware store in the city.
It has since since expanded into one of the largest piping solutions providers across the country, operating more than 35 facilities across North America.
"We're proud to be Louisvillians and Kentuckians," Kirchdorfer said. "This is our corporate headquarters, and I think any great community has strong corporate headquarters where companies are reinvesting in the community."
Along with its Louisville headquarters, the company also sponsors a local golf tournament, the ISCO Championship, which just wrapped up its play two weeks ago.
