Louisville florist offers 'Build your Own Bouquet' Flower Parties

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville florist expanded her business and is now hosting flower parties.

NoCo Blooms recently launched a subscription flower delivery service. Before launching the new venture, in April 2023, owner Morgan Elder delivered to homes in a handful of east Louisville neighborhoods, primarily Norton Commons.

Regular customers started hiring Elder to design bouquets for parties and events, which she said led to a natural growth in business. Now, with a full year under her belt, NoCo Blooms is growing again as Elder launches a "build your own bouquet" flower party option.

"I've always been passionate about flowers," Elder said. "I studied floral design at WKU and worked in their florist while in undergrad."

Elder shares her expertise with groups, everything from tips on how to keep your flowers alive longer to how to properly trim a stem to how to build a perfect bouquet and more.

People who book a party can expect to pay $30-$40 per person. Elder supplies the vases, flowers and a lesson, and she's willing to host anywhere in the Louisville area.

She recently hosted a group of nearly 50 women at the Royal Room in Norton Commons and said she can travel to homes and other event spaces, too. The parties can be customized to a host's preference of flowers, bouquet size and vase selection.

"The response is overwhelming," Elder said.

In addition to flower parties and annual subscriptions, NoCo Blooms can set up the "build your own bouquet" stations at bridal and baby showers, and, soon, will design for a wedding in 2024.

Elder hopes to someday open a storefront in Norton Commons and already has her eye on a few locations.

"I'd love to be a staple in the neighborhood where residents can source this art for their home on a regular basis," Elder said.

When asked how she balances the floral business with another full-time job and three kids, she said, "What’s balance? This truly is a passion project, a source of inspiration and something my young boys love to help with!"
