LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Burger Week is back, meaning burger joints across the city will be offering special $7 deals through Sunday.

One of those spots is Game on Lexington Road near the Highlands.

"It's one of the things we look forward to most of he year," said restaurant owner Tim Lewis.

The Kentucky Beef Council sponsors the annual event, which runs through July 21.

"It just builds steam as the week goes through," said Lewis.

Lewis said that at any point, they could have 40-50 burgers on the grill at once.

"We're basically busy from when the doors open until the last person leaves," he said. "Every year, we average way over 2,500 burgers."

Those who participate can download the official Louisville Burger Week app to check in, earn points, and for the chance to win some cool prizes.

If you check into four or more locations throughout the week, and those with the most points at the end of the week, will be entered to win a grand prize of $250 in restaurant gift cards.

The app also includes menus and details for all locations and their deals. It also provides some tips for those who may be new to burger week. Those include: Checking social media for updates on wait times and stock, patience — as restaurants are expected to be busy and you will likely have to wait — tipping, dine-in and take-out options, and purchasing sides and drinks in addition to burgers as a way to say "thank you" and show support for the local restaurants taking part.
