LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- City leaders celebrated Iroquois Amphitheater's 86th season on Tuesday.

The season is now officially underway, with several events scheduled this year. That includes performances of the musical "Joseph's and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

The historic amphitheater at Iroquois Park will also host several big concerts this year, including The Flaming Lips, Need to Breathe, Kansas, and many artists during the Louisville Jazz Fest in August.

"From its humble beginnings in 1939, to the modern state-of-the-art facility that we're standing in today, this iconic venue has been a beacon of cultural expression, bringing together the finest talents in music, theater, dance and beyond," said Metro Councilwoman Jennifer Chappell, D-15.Ā

Iroquois Amphitheater also hosts a free summer movie series for families. The next movie night is coming up this Saturday, April 27, starting at 6 p.m. There are two films, the "Paw Patrol" movie and the live action "The Little Mermaid."
