LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new fund has been established to support spirit industry professionals in Louisville.

The LEE Initiative and Apron Inc. launched the Bluegrass Bartenders Fund. It is dedicated to providing financial support across the Louisville area for spirit industry professionals.

According to a news release, the program honors the legacies of Marie Zahn and Felicia Corbett, who were beloved members of the hospitality community. The fund offers financial assistance to bartenders and their teams who have experienced "significant hardships."

The program will cover essential living expenses like rent, utilities, childcare and medical bills. According to a news release, it will provide one-time grants to eligible bar team professionals working in the local spirit industry.Ā 

Applications are set to open in the late summer of 2025. The funds will be awarded on availability and urgency. To qualify, applicants must work for an independently owned local restaurant, bar or venue.Ā 

A fundraising dinner will be held at 610 Magnolia Wine Studio June 6. Tickets will be available for purchase through the LEE Initiatives website starting March 1.Ā
