LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Shoppers at Oxmoor Center will have one less place to buy Nike gear after the retailer quietly closed its store inside the mall.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, the Nike by Louisville store closed July 13 after operating for about three years. An outgoing message on the store's phone line says the location is permanently closed and directs customers to Nike's website for online purchases.
The reason for the closure has not been announced. Representatives for Oxmoor Center's operator, Brookfield Properties, did not immediately provide additional details, according to LBF.
Nike by Louisville opened in 2023 near Von Maur. The closure leaves the Nike Factory Store at The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass in Simpsonville as the company's remaining Louisville-area retail location.
Earlier this year, the company reported weaker-than-expected earnings, and its stock dropped to its lowest level in more than a decade. Nike also announced layoffs and has since closed stores in several markets, including New York City, Atlanta, Tampa, San Jose, California, and Cary, North Carolina.
Before opening at Oxmoor Center, Nike closed its Shelbyville Road Plaza factory store in 2022. That space is now occupied by Old Navy.
