LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The empty lot that used to house Showcase Cinemas on Bardstown Road was sold for $3.3 million in September, according to a deed on file with the Jefferson County Clerk's office.

Plans for the nearly 20-acre site at 3406-3408 Bardstown Road, just south of the Watterson Expressway, are unknown.

Neither J. Mark Blieden nor William Wagner, managers of the entity that bought the property, Playa Plaza LLC, returned calls from WDRB on Monday. Blieden and Wagner are executives with Louisville's Kaden Companies, a commercial real estate firm.

Playa Plaza was incorporated in 2004, according to the Kentucky Secretary of State's office. That's the same year that the movie theater closed after about 40 years in business, according to a 2013 Courier-Journal story.

The theater was razed in late 2010, according to a Louisville Metro wrecking permit.
