LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A longtime Bullitt County golf course is preparing to shut its doors this summer.

Pennsylvania Run Golf Course announced it will close on July 24, ending more than five decades in business in the Louisville-area golf community.

The public course first opened in 1970 and operated for 54 years as a walk-up facility, with no tee times required. Over the years, it became a familiar spot for both new and experienced golfers across the region.

In a social media post, members of the Emberson family — who own the course — reflected on its history, describing decades of memories built on the fairways and greens. They noted the course was originally opened by their parents and said the decision marks the beginning of a new chapter for the family.

Along with the closure date, the owners also confirmed plans for an auction of the property on Aug. 15. Preview dates are scheduled for Aug. 7 and Aug. 14. A specific auction time was not yet finalized.

The course has also been ranked among local lists of Louisville-area golf courses, highlighting its longstanding role in the region's golf scene.
