West Louisville's only CVS store closes permanently Thursday evening

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The only CVS in west Louisville is now closed for good.

The store on Portland Avenue closed permanently at 6 p.m. Thursday. Louisville will still have 20 CVS locations but the closest option for the Portland neighborhood will now be downtown, which is a three-mile walk.

"It's going to be inconvenient for those who don't have transportation," West Louisville Urban Coalition CEO Neal Robinson said.

Many see the closing as the loss of a vital west end resource. All prescriptions from the location will be transferred to the CVS at 4th and Muhammad Ali Boulevard downtown.
