LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Woodford Reserve has restored one of the most historic sites in Kentucky distilling history.

The Pepper House, which is partially a log cabin, was transformed into a tasting house for Woodford Reserve’s Personal Selection barrel program, where people can choose their own personal batches of Woodford Reserve.

“This home, with its rich heritage and deep-rooted connections to the birth of bourbon in the Commonwealth, stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Pepper family in shaping the bourbon industry as we know it today,” Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall said in a news release.

The house dates back to 1812 and was built by early Kentucky distiller Elijah Pepper and his family overlooking Woodford Reserve Distillery. The house has been vacant for decades.

The house’s library is also being named in honor of Master Distiller Emeritus Chris Morris, who helped grow Woodford into a global brand.

Brown-Forman also donated $25,000 to the Woodford County Library's History Room to support the establishing of a "Digitization Station" for historic documents.
