C-130 Hercules makes historic landing at Bowman Field

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If you drove by Bowman Field on Thursday afternoon, you may have witnessed a rare moment.

A C-130 Hercules military transport plane did a practice landing and take-off from the airport. The plane is from the Kentucky Air National Guard's 123rd airlift wing.

The landing was in preparation for Bowman Field's Aviation and Military Heritage Festival this weekend.

"That was a wonderful experience," said Pat MacDonald with the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. "To have a C-130 land here at Bowman Field, and to have so many of the neighbors and friends and family and people in the public to see it for only the second time in the history of Bowman Field ... it brought tears to my eyes."

The festival will take place Saturday and Sunday.
