LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man was killed and a woman was injured following a late-night shooting in downtown Louisville, according to police.
The Louisville Metro Police Department said officers were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. to the 800 block of South 4th Street on a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found an man inside a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said officers immediately rendered first aid until emergency crews arrived. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
An woman who was also inside the residence was assaulted during the incident. She was transported by EMS to UofL Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
The Louisville Metro Police Department Homicide Unit responded to the scene and has taken over the investigation. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the incident and whether there was any relationship between the two victims.
