LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A group on a Catholic pilgrimage stopped in Louisville on its 1,300-mile trek across the country.

The Catholics on the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage attended mass at the Cathedral of the Assumption before walking to St. Augustine Church in downtown on Tuesday.

The group is one of four taking different routes to Indianapolis. On Tuesday it made stops at seven churches in Louisville, and was scheduled to parade across the Big Four Bridge.

Tuesday evening, Indianapolis Archbishop Charles Thompson received the Eucharist in procession over the Ohio River from Louisville Archbishop Shelton Fabre, bringing the southern route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage from Brownsville, Texas.

The pilgrims attend mass and do community service in each city they visit. They're from all over the country, and calling it a "Journey with Jesus."

The group that passed through Louisville will converge with the other three groups walking different routes for a final stop at  St. John the Evangelist, a historic parish near Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center, for the National Eucharistic Congress.
