LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — Clark County is moving forward with a proposed one-year moratorium on new data centers.
The Clark County Plan Commission voted 7-0 Wednesday in favor of a one-year moratorium on new data center development.
The pause would give county leaders time to review how data centers are regulated and consider potential changes.
The moratorium still needs approval from the Clark County Board of Commissioners before it takes effect.
Several cities within Clark County have taken similar steps. Charlestown and Jeffersonville have also both approved one-year moratoriums on new data centers.
Neighboring New Albany also approved its own moratorium last month.
The proposed moratorium for the county now heads to the Clark County Board of Commissioners for consideration.
