LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — Trash pickup is about to cost Clarksville residents a little more.
The town council approved a new $10 monthly sanitation fee that will be added to residents' sewer bills.
Public Works Director Jeremy Allen said the department needs the extra funding to keep up with costs. He said the town has struggled to retain workers and keep aging trucks and equipment on the road.
Allen originally proposed a $15 monthly fee, but council members instead approved the $10 version.
The fee will help pay for weekly trash collection, yard waste pickup, tree debris removal, appliance pickup, street sweeping and snow removal.
