LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Urban League announced Tuesday that award-winning artist Common and Grammy-winning group Tank and the Bangas will headline its 2026 Derby Gala.
The gala will be held at 6 p.m. April 29, 2026, at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center during Kentucky Derby week and will carry the theme "Rhythm of Revolution: The Sonic Shift.”
Common, an Academy Award, Emmy and Grammy winner, is known for music centered on social justice and storytelling. Tank and the Bangas bring a high-energy blend of soul, funk and spoken word.
Louisville Urban League President and CEO Lyndon Pryor said the theme highlights music as both expression and motivation during times of change.
"Revolution has always had a soundtrack," Pryor said. "This night is about celebrating culture while pushing for progress."
Tickets are available online.
Proceeds from the Gala will toward Louisville Urban League's mission to promote careers, social justice, public health, equitable housing and Black-owned businesses.
