LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville police detective who was known for her work with children will be laid to rest on Monday.

Michelle Rusch served with LMPD for more than a decade as member of the Crimes Against Children Unit. She died June 10 from stomach cancer.Ā

The community filled Ratterman Funeral Home in Middletown on Sunday to remember Rusch.

The funeral service for Rusch will be Monday from 11 a.m. at Southeast Christian Church on Blankenbaker Parkway followed by a procession to Cave Hill Cemetery where she will be buried.

According to Louisville Metro Police Foundation, Rusch was recognized by the Children's Advocacy Centers of Kentucky as as Legendary Partner of 2025. That honor was presented by Kentucky attorney general Russell Coleman.

The Louisville Metro Police Foundation is encouraging people to donate to cover the cost of Rusch's burial and other expenses, and 100% of donations go to the family.
