LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Friday night on Bardstown Road was uneventful after an increased police presence, according to Louisville Metro Police.
In response to recent crime and disruption along Bardstown Road, LMPD previously said it would take a more aggressive approach to prevent the so-called street takeovers. As WDRB reported in recent weeks, crowds have poured onto Bardstown Road, partying, fighting and blocking traffic in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday.
During a biweekly news conference Wednesday, LMPD said it plans to place more officers along the Highlands-Bardstown Road corridor, especially on weekends. The plan includes walking patrols, mounted officers and more visible enforcement.
LMPD posted a recap of Friday night on Facebook Saturday.
"This is what success looks like," LMPD posted. "Bardstown Road was calm, safe, and uneventful—the way we like it."
Police towed two vehicles, but no arrests were made.
"Plenty of good times at our lively local businesses last night," LMPD said. "Our stepped-up patrols are working, but the real credit goes to our community for making good choices and looking out for one another."
