LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A person is dead and another is injured after a motorcyclist crashed into a truck that turned in front of it on Westport Road Friday night.
Aaron Ellis, a spokesman for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Westport Road and Interstate 265 around 9:15 p.m.
According to police, a Ford F150 was trying to make a left turn from Westport Road to I-265 southbound and turned into the path of an oncoming motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist couldn't get out of the way in time and crashed into the truck. Police said the driver of the truck failed to render aid, and fled the scene on foot. Officers were unable to find the driver after a "lengthy search" in the area.
According to police, the motorcyclist and passenger, who are both adults, were taken to UofL Hospital. LMPD spokesman Aaron Ellis said in an update Monday morning that the passenger died from their injuries on Sunday afternoon after being in critical condition.
The driver of the motorcycle had non-life-threatening injuries. Neither of them were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
