LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville police fatally shot two dogs Saturday morning after they allegedly attacked three people and were aggressive toward first responders.

Officer Adam Sears, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded to a reported dog attack at the Shamrock Acres Country Kennels in the 13000 block of Reamers Road at 11:10 a.m.

Police said the dogs were actively attacking people and displaying aggressive behavior toward first responders.

Due to the threat, officers shot the dogs to stop the attack, police said.

Three people injured in the attack were taken to UofL Hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Police said the incident is under investigation in coordination with Louisville Metro Animal Services.

In a social media post, the Shamrock Acres Country Kennels said the dogs were from the same household and two of their employees were injured, and a man, who they don't know, stepped in to help.

"This individual acted quickly and courageously, and without his intervention, the outcome could have been far worse," the kennel said in the post.

The kennel went on to say it was a heartbreaking outcome.

"At this time, we want to emphasize that this was a tragic accident—nothing more. There is no blame being placed."
