LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was indicted for the 2024 murder of a 1-year-old girl in Louisville.

Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said LMPD's Fugitive Unit arrested Gregory Ford Jr., 24, on a fugitive bench warrant Tuesday afternoon.

Ford was indicted Monday by a Jefferson County grand jury for murder in connection to the death of a 1-year-old on Aug. 21, 2024.

Police said officers responded to the 1500 block of Haskin Avenue on a report of a 1-year-old girl that wasn't breathing and was unconscious. She was taken to Norton Children's Hospital, where she later died.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified her as Evani McAfee-Wooten and said her cause of death was blunt force injuries.

Ford was taken to Metro Corrections in connection to the homicide investigation, but police said he's also facing charges of strangulation and assault involving another victim.

Ford's bond was set at $100,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 3.
