LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Pennsylvania man was charged after he allegedly grabbed a young girl's leg in a bathroom stall at a southern Indiana grocery store.
In a news release, Charlestown Police said Bradley Austin Moyer, 24, of Port Carbon, Pennsylvania, was arrested Saturday after an hours-long search.
Police said officers were dispatched about 6 p.m. Friday to the Jay C store on County Road 403 in Charlestown on a call regarding an incident in the women's restroom. An investigation began after police were told a man grabbed the leg of a 7-year-old girl from an adjacent restroom stall and then ran from the store.
Witnesses told police bystanders confronted the suspect before he drove away. People at the scene were able to give police detailed descriptions of the man, his vehicle and the license plate number.
CHPD looked for the suspect through the night, but a tip from a community member led to the arrest of Moyer in Otisco, Indiana. He was found in the parked vehicle police had been searching for, which turns out was stolen out of Ohio and connected to a burglary there.
Moyer was taken to the Clark County Jail in Jeffersonville and charged with felony battery (victim under 14 years old; suspect over 18), felony voyeurism (camera use) and felony auto theft. He had an initial arraignment Monday and remains jailed on a $100,000 full cash bond. He is scheduled back in court on Oct. 29.
Charlestown Police Chief Eric Kruse praised the public's help in solving the case.
"The Charlestown Police Department will always take allegations of inappropriate or unwanted touching seriously, especially when it involves juveniles," Kruse said in a statement. "If you come to Charlestown and commit crimes against children, our officers will locate you and arrest you if probable cause exists. There is zero tolerance in Charlestown for this type of behavior."
