LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman who was shot early Monday in the Newburg neighborhood has died. Louisville police responding to her shooting shot and killed a man that officers said approached them with a gun.

Tiffany Reiner, 45, died at UofL Health Hospital Monday afternoon hours after she was shot on Ridgecrest Road near Rosette Blvd, according to a news release from the Jefferson County coroner's office.

Family members told WDRB after the shooting that Reiner was a mother of three children. They said she was shot during a birthday party for one of her adult children.

Louisville Metro Police said an officer shot and killed 20-year-old Frank Mejia Aguilar -- the man who allegedly shot Reiner -- when he approached them with a gun and refused commands to stop and drop the weapon.

LMPD Deputy Chief Emily McKinley said the Public Integrity Unit is investigating the shooting, and body camera video of the incident will be released within 10 business days of the shooting.
