LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Kentucky bourbon distillery could soon go to the highest bidder after a judge ordered the property sold in a multimillion-dollar court case.

The former Garrard County Distilling Co. in Lancaster is set to be auctioned after Tom Collins Distillery LLC, a company connected to Sazerac, secured a nearly $27.9 million judgment tied to unpaid debt, according to our partners from Louisville Business First.

Court records show the judgment includes unpaid loans, interest and related fees connected to the distillery.

A Garrard County judge ordered the property to be sold within 90 days. The sale is expected to include the distillery site, buildings, production equipment and whiskey barrels.

No auction date has been announced.

The legal dispute stems from financing tied to the distillery, which was once pitched as a major addition to Kentucky’s bourbon industry but has since sat idle.

LBF reports Tom Collins Distillery LLC is linked to Sazerac, which acquired debt associated with the property earlier this year.
