LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three people were arrested in connection to a southern Indiana shooting.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said in a statement dispatch received a report of a man shot at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8.
The caller pulled over at a local gas station as authorities responded to the scene. Police found a 40-year-old man with "trauma to his upper body." He was transferred from a local hospital to UofL Hospital for treatment.
Police said the victim is stable but is still in intensive care.
According to police, it was determined the shooting occurred at a residence on West New Bethel Road in Lexington, Indiana. When officers arrived at the scene, there was no one there.
Police learned the suspect, 42-year-old David Gates of Lexington, had an altercation with the victim and shot him.
Gates was found in Clark County hiding in a trailer in a wooded area. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on an attempted murder charge and his bond was set at $1,000,000.
Police said two other people were arrested in connection to the shooting.
- David Thacker, age 56, of Louisville, Kentucky: charged with obstruction of justice and false informing.
- Nikisha Richardson, age 39, of Lexington, Indiana: charged with assisting a criminal, obstruction of justice and false informing.
