LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 73-year-old man was arrested and charged with rape after assaulting a woman who was cleaning his home, according to police.
According to an arrest citation, the victim posted an add on the NextDoor app looking for babysitting or residential cleaning jobs. Richard Conkin responded, asking if she would clean his home on Windsor View Drive near Fairdale.
Police said she arrived at the home and began cleaning. When she was upstairs in a bedroom, Conkin went into the room.
According to court documents, Conkin pushed the woman onto the bed and held her down by her wrists. He told her not to scream or it would be worse, according to police.
Conkin then took off the victim's clothes and raped her.
Police said Conkin offered the woman an extra $20 if she didn't say anything. She had bruising to her wrists and cuts to her knuckles, according to police.
Conkin was arrested March 21 and charged with rape, the same day the incident occurred.
On Monday, Conkin pleaded not guilty. He posted his $250,000 bond and will now be placed on house arrest.
Conkin's next hearing is March 31.
