LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A California man was sentence to nearly six years in prison after trying to distribute methamphetamine in Louisville.

Teyrin Johnson, 30, was sentenced to five years and 10 months in federal prison last week. According to a news release, a multi-agency investigation identified the Los Angeles man as a suspect in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in Louisville from June 16, 2020 to March 4, 2021. 

The U.S. Department of Justice said Johnson laundered drug money when he stopped at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. He was carrying $80,160 in cash. 

After serving his sentence in federal prison, Johnson will be on five years of supervised released. There is no parole in the federal system.
