LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police arrested a Chicago man after a chase through three southern Indiana counties.
In a release from Indiana State Police, officers said Mekyell Brown-Champion, 25, robbed a Scott County gas station around 8 a.m. Monday. Police said he was driving a black Volkswagen SUV with Tennessee plates that had been stolen out of Nashville.
Vehicle information was sent out to law enforcement, and within ten minutes, Seymour police officers said they spotted him on Interstate 65 in Jackson County. Officers said he sped off, continued into Bartholomew County with troopers with ISP-Versailles Police and multiple agencies in pursuit.
When the driver exited on to State Road 46 in Columbus and tried to get back on the interstate, a state trooper used a Precision Immobilization Technique or PIT maneuver to end the chase. Brown-Champion was taken into custody.
Brown-Champion was wanted on a warrant out of Illinois. He is charged in Indiana with robbery, criminal trespass and battery. He's currently in the Scott County Jail in Scottsburg. More charges may be pending, according to ISP.
