LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Metro Police Crimes Against Children Unit is investigating a 26-year-old Louisville woman accused of buying alcoholic beverages for several minors last summer.
According to court documents, the investigation began Aug. 6, a couple of weeks after the alleged incident July 27. Grace Barnes was taking several Holy Trinity Catholic School students home from a football game when she allegedly stopped at a liquor store on Taylorsville Road. Police said she bought two 12-packs of Twisted Tea, a beverage that contains roughly the same amount of alcohol as a beer (5%), and gave it to the students.
Investigators said Barnes has taught the students she allegedly bought the beer for. One 14-year-old student who was in the car told investigators Barnes also provided cups for the drinks.
Several other students told police Barnes has supplied them with alcohol.
The Archdiocese of Louisville confirmed Thursday that Barnes worked at Holy Trinity until June, about a month before this incident happened.
Police pulled surveillance video from various locations as well as "corroborating evidence which shows the subject purchasing alcohol at approximately 2324 hours."
Several students told investigators Barnes supplied them with alcohol.
Barnes is charged with one count of unlawful transaction with a minor. She is due in court on Jan. 13, 2025.
